Menzies Distribution wins new contract with Komatsu Forest

Menzies Distribution expands offering in Scotland to rapidly deliver parts for forestry machines located in rural areas.

Menzies Distribution has won a new contract to deliver parts for one of the world’s largest manufacturers of forest machines, Komatsu Forest, in Scotland.

Komatsu Forest provides industrial machinery to companies across the world but has a particularly strong presence in Scotland, where there is a thriving forestry industry. Many of these machines are based at sites in remote and hard to reach areas of the country. Menzies Distribution has been appointed because it specialises in delivering to hard to reach areas.

Menzies Distribution has eight depots and hubs in Scotland which enable the delivery of parts for machines within 24 hours, where previously it has taken longer. This is crucial for contractors who are paid by the hour and whose business is seriously impacted by a delay in working machinery.

Menzies Distribution’s time-critical deliveries will soon be enhanced by its offering to provide Komatsu Forest with a storage facility at its Inverness site. This will enable individuals to come and collect the parts as soon as they are required, or for them to be delivered to the nearest newstrade retailer to suit the client. At present, the nearest warehouse is in Longtown, Carlisle.
