Menzies Distribution’s Response team wins World Book Day fulfilment contract

Commencing earlier this month Menzies Distribution’s Response team (Response) distributed over 15 million book tokens to 45,000 educational establishments across the UK and Ireland in partnership with The Education Company Ltd.

The fulfilment project involved enclosing a combination of posters and book tokens into bespoke packaging for onward distribution to schools in time for World Book Day today (3 March 2022).

Created over 25 years ago by UNESCO, World Book Day is a global celebration to help change lives through a mutual love of books and reading. Their mission is to promote reading for pleasure, offering every child and young person the opportunity to have a book of their own.

Response’s specialist status within the education sector, combined with its unique capabilities in bespoke fulfilment meant it was well placed to support this complex and time critical project.

David McLellan, Commercial & Operations Manager for Menzies Response said:

“We are proud to work in partnership with The Education Company Ltd., and support UNESCO’s mission to change lives, and give every child and young person the opportunity to own a book. The World Book Day fulfilment is a perfect fit for Response, utilising the strength of our fulfilment operation and specialist status within the education sector.”

David Edwards, World Book Day Project Manager at The Education Company Ltd., added:

“We have been extremely impressed by the way Response performed in their first year of handling this very complex project. The main distribution was delivered on time, even with several unexpected logistical issues being thrown at them.”
